Cruden Construction awarded £7.9m contract for Belong Morris Feinmann community care village in Didsbury
Cruden Construction is delighted to have been selected as the construction partner for the next Belong village in Didsbury, Manchester.
This is Cruden Construction's fourth contract for Belong following on from successful schemes in Crewe, Atherton and Warrington over the past six years.
The new community care village is a joint venture between Belong and the Morris Feinmann Homes Trust in Didsbury, Manchester. Our contract is for the construction of the new village, which will comprise 74 en-suite rooms for 24-hour nursing or dementia care, 13 independent living apartments and a village centre with range of facilities, such as bistro, hair salon and exercise studio. The village will be located on the site of the former Morris Feinmann care home.
We are again pleased to be working with Pozzoni Architects who have developed the design with the two joint venture stakeholders so that it includes the many specific cultural and faith requirements of the local Jewish community. The village is intended to become one of the leading care centres for older Jewish people in the UK.
In addition to Pozzoni Architects, the other design team members include Alan Johnston Partnership Consulting Engineers, ESD Ltd Consulting Engineers and AECOM as Project Managers and CDM Coordinator, all of whom have partnered successfully with Cruden Construction in the past.
Demolition works on the site have already commenced and construction works will follow in earnest on 24th August 2015, with completion anticipated in the summer of 2017.
Commenting on this latest award and our relationships with the stakeholders, Ian Woolrich says:
"Our previous Belong projects have been delivered in a spirit of trust, cooperation and respect, with the various challenges during the course of construction solved by a team effort. We know that ethos will continue on the Belong Morris Feinmann project, and we look forward to celebrating the opening of the scheme in 2017."
